How long do microneedling results last?

The duration of your results depends on many factors, which you and your provider will discuss. For acne scarring and signs of aging, the most common treatment cadence is 3 treatments, spaced 1 month apart. After this initial treatment window, most patients return for a treatment once every 6 months or 1 year.

Who isn’t a good fit for this appointment?

While microneedling is safe, there are certain situations in which a patient should not receive this treatment. This includes patients who:

• Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)
• Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)
• Are prone to keloid scarring
• Are allergic to stainless steel or anesthetics
• Have a bleeding disorder or dysfunction
• Are pregnant or nursing
• Are taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)

What can I expect during a microneedling appointment?

Typically, each treatment lasts around 45 minutes. Before we begin, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to ensure maximum comfort. Your aesthetic nurse practitioner will discuss the process with you, ensuring you remain in the driver’s seat. The process is very similar to a facial, and it's common to conclude the session with a hydrating or soothing serum to enhance your skin's recovery.
