Educator & Consultant, She/herShane Snowdon has been doing education and advocacy for several decades around DEI health and wellbeing concerns. In the 1980s and 1990s, she led initiatives against domestic violence and sexual assault. In the early 1990s, she developed a training and support program for people who had recently left prison. Later in the 1990s, she focused on women’s cancer, heading two national advocacy efforts, and also led a university women’s center oriented to health needs. Since the late 1990s, she has been an educator around the health concerns of LGBTQ+ people, founding and leading both the national Center for LGBT Health & Equity at UC San Francisco and the national LGBT Health & Aging Program of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). While continuing this work, Shane is now also leading a project to reduce fatal auto crashes, which disproportionately affect marginalized people.
