FAQs
Does Tia take Medicaid/Medicare?
We hope to expand Medicaid/Medicare access to Tia one day!
Across all markets, Tia is in-network with most commercial insurance plans, including individual plans available through the Affordable Care Act marketplace. We are working to be able to expand access to more insurance plans in more markets over time. However, we cannot accept members with Medicaid or Medicaid managed plans as we are not in-network with Medicaid.
Do you have BIPOC providers at Tia?
Yes, Tia has providers who identify as Black, Asian-American and Latinx on both our virtual and in-person care teams in all markets. We know that many patients want to see a provider with a shared race or ethnicity, so are working to increase diverse representation across specialties and markets. We also recognize that both medicine and diversity are local so aim to build Care Teams that mirror the communities in which we operate.
Do you only serve people who are assigned female at birth?
The Tia community and our clinics are open to anyone, regardless of gender or sex. Clinically speaking, Tia is a center of excellence for sex-specific care for people assigned female at birth. However, Tia's Care team provides affirming care for people of all gender identities and experiences, and will refer you to specialty care partners as needed for services outside of our scope to ensure every person gets the highest quality care, always.
Do you treat trans & non-binary patients?
Tia is for all people. We aim to cultivate a community that's inclusive, respective, and celebratory of all sexes and genders. Our core competency today lies in providing health information and care to people assigned female at birth. However, many of our providers have experience and training in providing comprehensive care for people of various genders, including gender-affirming care and hormone replacement therapy. If you're looking for gender-affirming care, Tia's care team can ensure you're matched with a clinician with this training and expertise.
What’s the story behind Tia’s name?
The word “Tia” is Spanish for aunt and symbolizes the caring relationship with an “important woman in your life” whom you turn to when the going gets tough. It encapsulates our vision to cultivate loved and trusted relationships with women about their health — a stark contrast to the transactional “feel-like-a-number” experiences all-too-many women experience when navigating traditional healthcare. While Tia is a Spanish word, its meaning is symbolic, bridges many cultures around the world and represents the diverse and inclusive community we seek to cultivate.
