Meet Dr. Jordan, Senior VP of Medical Affairs at Tia. She was drawn to medicine as a kid and committed to it when she realized that this pathway meant a lifetime of learning.

Formerly a provider, Dr. Jordan moved to the administrative side of healthcare with the hope that she could make big changes to care delivery via care systems.

Where did you grow up and where are you now?

I was born to Irish immigrants in Cleveland, Ohio. As the 6th of 7 children (with five girls), it was definitely a home of girl power. I went to Stanford and fell in love with California. After some educational experiences across the U.S., I returned and now live in San Francisco.

What drew you to medicine?

I was always drawn to reading about medicine, even as a kid I enjoyed the health columns in the paper and magazines, initially exploring health issues for myself and loved ones. I realized that medicine offered a lifetime of learning.

What do you find most challenging about navigating healthcare?

The finances of healthcare are so challenging, confusing, and too often dictate the care given. I slowly switched over to the administrative side of healthcare, realizing that making a difference in care systems can make a big difference in the care given to individuals.

Why did you decide to join the Tia team?

I love the multitude of missions: improving the provider AND the patient experience, advancing the principles of integrative medicine, and even tackling the EMR and environment of care.

How do you practice self-care?

I first took on sleep — I hadn’t felt rested in a long time. I’m still working on optimizing diet and weaving in yoga to double down on exercise and meditation in the same hour.
